Mr. David Wood here investigates the death of Muhammad, the prophet of the Muslims, based on authentic Muslim sources and reaches a startling conclusion.
Many might have desired to kill Muhammad, since, he led the slaughtering of men, raping and enslavement of women, enslavement of children, forced conversion of religion, destruction of their idols and cities, seizing of land, wealth, etc. The obvious culprit would be the one who threatened to kill him in a certain way and then followed it through. This coupled with the confession of the dying man will help close the case and find the real murderer.
Primary Suspect: Allah - for threatening a peculiar death and carrying out his threat.
Secondary Suspect: God of Abraham - for killing Muhammad in the same manner to defame him and Allah.
Preliminary Evidence:
Surah 69:43-49
(This is) a Message sent down from the Lord of the Worlds.
And if the messenger were to invent any sayings in Our name,
We should certainly seize him by his right hand,
And We should certainly then cut off the artery of his heart: (aorta in many translations)
The Muslims claim that the Quran is infallible. It says in their holy book that if Muhammad was a false prophet then Allah would kill him but severing or cutting his aorta. Aorta is a major blood artery that goes out of the heart.
Circumstance:
After a battle at a place called Khaiber, Muhammad defeated the Jews. One of the women who had lost her husband, father and uncle poisoned a roast lamb and offered it to Muhammad. Muhammad ate it and died of this poison after a period of time during which he continued to suffer.
Sahih Bukari Book #53, Hadith #394
Narrated Abu Huraira: When Khaibar was conquered, Allah's Apostle was presented with a poisoned (roasted) sheep. Allah's Apostle said, "Collect for me all the Jews present in this area." (When they were gathered) Allah's Apostle said to them, "I am going to ask you about something; will you tell me the truth?" They replied, "Yes, O Abal-Qasim!" Allah's Apostle said to them, "Who is your father?" They said, "Our father is so-and-so." Allah's Apostle said, "You have told a lie. for your father is so-and-so," They said, "No doubt, you have said the truth and done the correct thing." He again said to them, "If I ask you about something; will you tell me the truth?" They replied, "Yes, O Abal-Qasim! And if we should tell a lie you will know it as you have known it regarding our father," Allah's Apostle then asked, "Who are the people of the (Hell) Fire?" They replied, "We will remain in the (Hell) Fire for a while and then you (Muslims) will replace us in it" Allah's Apostle said to them. ''You will abide in it with ignominy. By Allah, we shall never replace you in it at all." Then he asked them again, "If I ask you something, will you tell me the truth?" They replied, "Yes." He asked. "Have you put the poison in this roasted sheep?" They replied, "Yes," He asked, "What made you do that?" They replied, "We intended to learn if you were a liar in which case we would be relieved from you, and if you were a prophet then it would not harm you."
An identical hadith is presented in Sahih Bukari Book #71, Hadith #669.
Witness statements and Dying Confession:
The confession of Muhammad and other witness is stated below. (they are similar to the hadith pasted above, you may skip them if you so desire)
Sahih Bukari Book #59, Hadith #713
Narrated Ibn Abbas: 'Umar bin Al-Khattab used to let Ibn Abbas sit beside him, so 'AbdurRahman bin 'Auf said to 'Umar, "We have sons similar to him." 'Umar replied, "(I respect him) because of his status that you know." 'Umar then asked Ibn 'Abbas about the meaning of this Holy Verse:-- "When comes the help of Allah and the conquest of Mecca . . ." (110.1) Ibn 'Abbas replied, "That indicated the death of Allah's Apostle which Allah informed him of." 'Umar said, "I do not understand of it except what you understand." Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison.
Sahih Muslim Book #026, Hadith #5430
Anas reported that a Jewess came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) with poisoned mutton and he took of that what had been brought to him (Allah's Messenger). (When the effect of this poison were felt by him) he called for her and asked her about that, whereupon she said: I had determined to kill you. Thereupon he said: Allah will never give you the power to do it. He (the narrator) said that they (the Companion's of the Holy Prophet) said: Should we not kill her? Thereupon he said: No. He (Anas) said: I felt (the affects of this poison) on the uvula of Allah's Messenger.
Note: There are other reports which claim that Muhammad ordered the Jewess who poisoned him to be killed when one of his companions also died due to eating the poisoned meat.
Sunan Abudawud Book #39, Hadith #4498
Narrated AbuSalamah: Muhammad ibn Amr said on the authority of AbuSalamah, and he did not mention the name of AbuHurayrah: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) used to accept presents but not alms (sadaqah). This version adds: So a Jewess presented him at Khaybar with a roasted sheep which she had poisoned. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) ate of it and the people also ate. He then said: Take away your hands (from the food), for it has informed me that it is poisoned. Bishr ibn al-Bara' ibn Ma'rur al-Ansari died. So he (the Prophet) sent for the Jewess (and said to her): What motivated you to do the work you have done? She said: If you were a prophet, it would not harm you; but if you were a king, I should rid the people of you. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) then ordered regarding her and she was killed. He then said about the pain of which he died: I continued to feel pain from the morsel which I had eaten at Khaybar. This is the time when it has cut off my aorta.
Sunan Abudawud Book #39, Hadith #4499
Narrated Umm Mubashshir: Umm Mubashshir said to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) during the sickness of which he died: What do you think about your illness, Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)? I do not think about the illness of my son except the poisoned sheep of which he had eaten with you at Khaybar. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: And I do not think about my illness except that. This is the time when it cut off my aorta.
Verdict
We saw that 'Lord of the Worlds' threatened to kill Muhammad by cutting of his aorta, if he was a false prophet, and also we saw that Muhammad confessed that he felt as if his aorta was being cut off. This leads to the conclusion that Muhammad was a false prophet and that he was killed by the Lord of the Worlds.
Since we know that Muhammad was receiving messages from the same source for many years, an argument was raised that the God of Israel might have killed Muhammad in this manner to show his blind followers that he is a false prophet. Unfortunately there is no sufficient proof during this time to entertain these arguments.
Interesting points to be noted:
During the discussion some interesting observations were made. They are listed below.
1. Muhammad was indirectly forced to accept that he was a false prophet.
2. He was unwise enough to accept poisoned food from an enemy whose father, husband and uncle was killed by him.
3. In Ibn Sa’d, Vol. 2, pp. 251-252 found in the link
http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Qur%27an,_Hadith_and_Scholars:Muhammad%27s_Death
clearly states that one person who ate the poisoned sheep along with Muhammad knew that it was poisoned before it was 'revealed' to Muhammad. It was noted that 'revelation' did not come 5 min. before it did.
4. The fact that poison was known to him by its taste and then claimed that it was 'revealed', has cast doubts over the facts whether his other thoughts were also similarly claimed to have been 'revealed'.
5. Muhammad claimed that 'Allah would never allow it (His death by poisoning)'. This was not true and he indeed died. Implying that he did not now Allah too well or that Allah and Muhammad had a split their relationship.
6. Muhammad has called women 'deficient in mind' (Sahih Bukhari 1:6:301) but was killed at the hands of a woman.
7. He desired to die as a martyr but his god did not save him from this death nor grant him his wish. His death is not a martyr's death as poison was given after the war and he died much later possibly due to the fact that the poison was not spread evenly and he might have taken a portion with less poison. (The apostle of Allah lived after this three years till in consequence of his pain he passed away. During his illness he used to say, "I did not cease to find the effect of the (poisoned) morsel, I took at Khaibar and I suffered several times (from its effect) but now I feel the hour has come of the cutting of my jugular vein.")
